Beaune 1
We docked this morning in Macon and we took a bus ride to Beaune. We are in Burgundy country. We visited the Hotel Dieu that was a hospital primarily for the poor until 1970. It was founded in 1443 by Nicholas Rolin the Duke's Chancellor and his wife Guigone de Salins. They believed the poor should have a nice place to recuperate and should be respected and encouraged to worship God. The roof is made of tile and is in a Northern European style.
